With the dual feed plan, the channel expects to increase the on air content from about 130 140 hours (last year) to about 225 hours during the upcoming event. The simultaneous telecast of different matches will ensure a minimum of 45 additional hours of live content during prime time. This is the second year that Neo has acquired the right to broadcast the event. Sports broadcasting company Neo Sports Broadcast has bagged a seven year deal for exclusive broadcast rights of New Zealand Cricket. The deal gives Neo Sports exclusive broadcast rights across Asia, excluding the West Asia region, for both domestic and international cricket tournaments to be played in New Zealand till 2020.

Neo Sports bagged the rights for an estimated USD 60 70 million. Earlier, the rights were held by Sony India (2007 12). Sony bought the right for USD 50 million.

The multi broadcaster pitch was handled by , New Zealand Cricket’s exclusive international broadcast and sponsorship agent.

COO, Neo Sports, says, “We are trying to get a mix of cricket and non cricket tournaments to our kitty and have been bidding for good valued deals without too high pricing. With the India tour of New Zealand next year and the Asia Cup also in our kitty, we see it as a good bag.”

He adds that with the next cricketing World Cup to be held in Australia and New Zealand, this was a good opportunity for the company.

The series consists of three ODIs (one day internationals) and two Test matches. Sources close to the development reveal that the channel expects net revenue of Rs 150 crore from the cricket series. The total advertising inventory for the India South Africa cricket series is about 5,000 seconds.

Neo Cricket has already roped in a host of sponsors for the property. Currently, the channel has eight sponsors on board. Tata Indicom, Coca Cola and Micromax Mobile have been roped in as co presenting sponsors. Others, including Volkswagen, HDFC Standard Life, Citi Credit Card, Perfetti and JK Cement have come on board as associate sponsors.
