Man arrested with suspected heroin
CHAMPAIGN An Urbana man who allegedly had several doses of heroin on him in Champaign Wednesday has been charged with a Class X felony.
pandora charms Anthony Hearnes, 41, who listed an address in the 200 block of Apple Tree Drive, is due back in court April 24 after being charged with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance.
According to a Champaign police report, Hearnes was walking in the road in the 1400 block of Clock Street when an officer saw him and tried to talk to him.
Despite the officer’s commands, Hearnes allegedly would not stop putting his hands in his pockets and continued to do so while running from the officer. As he ran, he slipped and fell and was caught.
In his right rear pants pocket was a plastic bag with several smaller packs. And within arm’s reach of where he was cau pandora charms ght was another bag that contained multiple packets.
Police said the bag in his pants had 14 smaller packages of heroin that weighed 9.4 grams and the one on the ground contained 49 smaller packs also weighing 9.4 grams.
Police estimated the street value of the heroin at $1,880. They said Hearnes also had multiple cell phones on him.
If convicted, Hearnes faces a mandatory prison term of between six and 30 years.
Judge Richard Klaus set his bond at $50,000.
Maybe, we shouldn’t have to pandora charms do ‘what we’re told’. Maybe, we shoul pandora charms d have the liberty to make our own decisions and do with our bodies what we desire. The ‘nanny state’ sounds like a good idea until it gets out of control and I’m afraid that day has come. The police should not have the right to ask you to stop simply b/c you are in a drug market area of you look odd. The only reason you should ever be asked to submit to a ‘command’ is if you are in the process of committing a crime. This was the intention of our legal system.
