The new and improved Gunny’s Hall pandora earrings is now twice the original size and decorated with memorabilia from members dating back to World War I. And awards to the detachment, the rifle team and Young Marines all have a place.

If you are an honorably discharged Marine or a Navy corpsman who served with Fleet Marine Force, you are eligible to join the Marine Corps League. Social members are accepted when sponsored by a member in good standing.

To check out the new and improved Gunny’s Hall at 8720 Twinbrook Drive in Mentor, stop by on a Sunday morning for breakfast or pick up tickets for any of the events the detachment hosts.

Dottie Bahr, a 55 year member of Palmer Roberts American Legion Auxiliary Unit 214, was recently honored as a “shining star” and given a lifetime membership.

Bahr will be 97 years old in November and is a pandora earrings past president of the Auxiliary and held many other offices and chairmanships during her 55 years.

Mentor American Legion Post forming Auxiliary

American Legion Post 352 of Mentor is forming an auxiliary with the hope of being chartered by the end of November.

Ten members required to charter the auxiliary are ready to be joined by other ladies who would like to participate in the American Legion Auxiliary. Regular breakfast is $4 and is sponsored by Christine’s Coffee and Food. The Ladies Auxiliary will also host a bake sale.

Buddy bags project underway at Willoughby Post

Palmer Roberts American Legion Auxiliary Unit 214 is making Buddy Tote bags for homeless veterans in shelters.

Items requested to fill the bags are bars of soap, washcloths, towels, combs, paper towels, bathroom tissue, toothbrushes and toothpaste. Also requested are Corelle or Melamine plates, bowls, cups and metal eating utensils. Other comfort items may be added. Donations of reusable green tote bags from local grocery stores would also be gratefully appreciated.
